Cancer Causing Foods You Probably Eat Every Day
Microwave popcorn is at the center of lung cancer debates around the world. Not only are the kernels and oil likely GMO (which the manufacturer does not have to disclose), but the fumes released contain diacetyl, which is toxic to humans.
Potato chips are high in both fat and calories, which are sure to bring on weight gain.
A study done in the New England Journal of medicine found that eating just 1 once of potato chips per day caused an average 2 pound weight gain in one year. Besides being full of trans-fats which can cause high cholesterol in most people, they have excessive sodium levels which, for many people, cause high blood pressure.
Smoked meats and barbecue
Smoked meats are almost an inevitable part of celebrations and feasts. However, in the process of smoking, they absorb large amounts of tar, which is a well known carcinogen. Other than that, bacon, ham, sausage and other meats of this sort are also high in salt. A frequent consumption of smoked meats has been statistically linked to the development of bowel cancer in the research presented by Fritz,W, and Soos, K.
Soda and Carbonated Beverages
Sodas have been at the center of the health debate for two decades. Filled with high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), dyes, and a host of other chemicals, they are very bad for your health. They provide zero nutritional value and can rob your body of the nutrients you get from other foods. Adding “diet” to the label means you’re also consuming aspartame – and that is no better than rat poison.
Foods that are rich in refined sugar are sweets (such as candies, cake, lollipops, etc), fruit flavored drinks, many types of cereal, processed foods (such as ketchup or salad dressings), etc. In 1931, Otto Warburg, who won the Nobel Prize in medicine, discovered that refined sugars help the growth of cancer cells, as they feed on sugar. Since the foods that are full of refined sugars are very popular, and consumed daily by many people, it is no wonder that so many people are developing some kind of cancer.
Foods that are highly salted, pickled, or smoked
Foods that are cured by use of nitrates or nitrites act as preservatives as well as adding color to the meat. Although nitrates do not cause cancer in and of themselves, under certain conditions these chemicals change once they are inside the body into N-nitroso composites. It’s this N-nitroso that is associated with a greater increase the risk of developing cancers
Genetically modified organisms, more commonly called GMO’s, are foods that have been modified by chemicals and grown with chemicals. The rapidly growing industry of genetically modified crops are infiltrating our food supply at an alarming rate. More than 90% of our corn and soy are now genetically modified. This fairly new practice is the source of many debates. Experts agree that adequate testing was not done before GMO foods were added to the ingredient listing of thousands of products. Look for GMO-free labels whenever possible.
