Kochi Metro ticket charges is considering to be re-evaluated

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) MD Elias George said that Kochi Metro ticket rates will be re-evaluated when the Metro trains extend its journey till Maharaja’s ground station.

Elias George was responding to allegations that Metro rates are not affordable to the common man. The Metro currently operates from Aluva to Palarivattom. The ticket rate till Palarivattom is Rs 40. The ticket prices from Aluva to Edappally also is Rs 40. The minimum charge is Rs 10. Elias George has indicated that the ticket rates may come down when the Metro trains extend its journey till Maharaja’s ground station.

The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) also  plans to introduce daily, weekly, monthly passes and group tickets by the launch of commercial operations along the Aluva-Maharaja’s College stretch. They offer passes at discounted rates to make Metro more attractive. Currently, Kochi1 card holders get a discount of Rs 8 and they have to pay Rs 32 instead of Rs 40 ticket fare.
