Motor workers’ organizations decided to withdraw the statewide strike which was planned on January 6 (Saturday).
The motor workers’ organisations had earlier announced a state-wide strike on January 6 (Saturday) if the Motor Vehicle Act Bill 2017 (Amendment Bill) is presented in the Rajya Sabha in the ongoing Parliament session.
They withdrew the strike as the bill has not been considered in the parliament yet.
The motor workers’ organisations want the bill to be withdrawn as it was not friendly to the workers. The bill seeks to bring radical reforms in the transport sector by ensuring 100 percent e-governance, checking bogus driving licenses and vehicle thefts, slapping a heavy penalty on traffic violators and protecting the good Samaritan, among other things.
