The motor workers organisations have planned to hold a statewide strike on January 6 (Saturday), for presenting the Motor Vehicle Act Bill 2017 (Amendment Bill) in the Rajya Sabha in the ongoing Parliament session.

They will also hold a protest march on January 5. The protestors want the bill to be withdrawn as it was not friendly to the workers.

The bill seeks to bring some radical reforms in the transport sector by ensuring 100 per cent e-governance, checking bogus driving licenses and vehicle thefts, slapping a heavy penalty on traffic violators and protecting the good Samaritan, among other things.

Autorickshaws, Lorry, Light Motor Vehicles, Heavy vehicles including Private Buses, KSRTC Buses, Automobile workshops, spare parts shops will take part in strike.
