The indefinite bus strike announced by private bus owners in Kerala has been called off.

The bus owners, who held a meeting with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, said that they are withdrawing the strike, considering the trouble faced by the common man.

The bus owners had launched an indefinite bus strike on February 16, demanding that the minimum fare be hiked to Rs 10 from Rs 8. The hike will come into effect from March 1. They were also demanding a minimum charge of Rs 2 for students. The government, however, had rejected these demands and launched stern measures to counter the private bus strike in the state.
