High Court has extended the arrest of actor – MP Suresh Gopi for ten more days in connection with a case related to registration of vehicles in Puducherry under fake address.
The case will be taken up again on next Tuesday and his anticipatory bail plea will also be considered on that day.
Suresh Gopi was accused of making fake documents for the registration of his luxury vehicle. His vehicle, whose number is PY 01 BA 999, also had an ‘MP’ board in it.
The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has probed into the matter following a series of allegations regarding luxury vehicles plying in Kerala being registered in Puducherry to avoid paying tax. The MVD probe found irregularities and the state then has ordered a probe by the Crime Branch.
The Crime Branch had questioned Suresh Gopi and told the court that Suresh Gopi is not cooperating with the investigation.
The Crime Branch informed the court that a secret racket was functioning in the State to help people to get their vehicle registered in Puducherry to evade road tax in Kerala. Motor Vehicles Department has found that more than 1500 vehicles were registered in Puducherry under fake address. Also more than one vehicle is registered in the same address.
