Popular playback singer-instrumentalist Vaikom Vijayalakshmi who has been undergoing treatment for eyesight finally gets vision, confirms her doctor. The visually challenged singer, who is diagnosed with damage to the nerves in her brain, has been taking treatment for the same and now she can see shades of objects and light. The versatile singer who will soon enter wedlock is extremely excited to share her first sight experience.
“I am very happy. I am conducting homeo treatment for more than one year for getting vision. The treatment is led by Dr Sreekumar of Kottayam Spandana medicals. Now I am seeing objects like a shadow and I am able to recognize light. If I get back vision completely, I want to see my father and mother first. Secondly, I want to see Santosh, my fiance. After that, I want to see Vaikathappan to my heart’s content,” Vijayalakshmi said.
Santosh, a native of Thrissur, will marry Vijayalakshmi on March 29 this year.
Vijayalakshmi has been giving numerous performances on stage from her childhood, but it was the song Katte katte from the Malayalam film Celluloid (2013) that gave her the big break. She has 40 songs from 20 films in four languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Sanskrit and Telugu – apart from numerous devotional songs of different faiths, to her credit.
